My Family: My husband Mark, me, and my daughter Marina

Where were you born and where did you grow up? Where do you live now?
I was born and raised just outside of Boston, Massachusetts in the U.S. My parents and most of my extended family still live in the Boston area.

I moved to Virginia to attend college and learned to love the warmer weather, and the people here. I currently live in Richmond, which is the capital of Virginia. I have lived in Virginia now, longer than I had in Massachusetts, and consider it 'home'.

Fun Fact: This is the second company where Kyle Sutton and I have worked together! I met and worked with Kyle here in Richmond before he moved away, and we stayed in touch for many years.
Did you attend university, and if so, what did you study?
I attended a small university in Virginia called the University of Mary Washington (named after U.S. president George Washington's mother), and I studied historic preservation, studying things like archeology, architectural conservation, artifact preservation, and what I grew to love...museum studies and management. I also minored in education as I thought I wanted to be an elementary or primary school teacher, but learned that wasn't my passion in my fourth year at school.
What's one thing that can instantly make your day better?
Seeing my baby girl smile and giggle is the very best. She is just a year old, so her genuine joy is infectious.

Ideally, how would you spend your birthday?
I absolutely love my birthday (arguably more than any other holiday) on July 20. I have a personal goal to go swimming on my birthday each year as it's always very hot in July! I have swam in pools, the Atlantic ocean and this past summer in Walden Pond in Massachusetts with my baby daughter - hands down my favorite birthday swim!

Walden Pond is more like a lake in Concord, Massachusetts. It is clear all the way to the bottom and stands as me and my husband's favorite swimming spot when we visit my family in Massachusetts.
Would you rather cook or order in?
I really enjoy grocery shopping and cooking at home - and I'm a pretty good cook! Growing up, my father cooked for our family so I adore spending hours in the kitchen with him - cooking up feasts for our family. My husband is a great cook as well, so enjoying his cooking is also a treat! During quarantine, my husband purchased a nice wok and a propane burner set up (for outside) to cook food over an open flame...and it still stands as my favorite meal when he breaks out the wok set up to cook us dinner.
What would be the first thing you'd do if you won the lottery?
I would buy and furnish a second home that sits on a body of water - not sure if it'd be on the ocean or a lake - but somewhere not too far from home where we could swim as a family and escape to enjoy rest and relaxation. I'd also fully fund my daughter's education fund for schooling, and university because my parents supported me through university and I hope to pay it forward to my daughter.
Do you have any special skills?
I am a stellar parallel parker and driver in general. I learned to drive in the heart of the city of Boston and am not scared of busy streets, tight parking spaces, or aggressive drivers. It's one of my husband's favorite qualities of mine, as he never has to drive in any cities if I'm around :)!
