Where do you live today, and how did you end up there?

Today my wife and I live in Raleigh, North Carolina in the US. We've been here just over 2 years, but have bounced from coast-to-coast. We're both originally from Cincinnati, Ohio where we grew up and went to college. We met in college at the University of Cincinnati. After college I moved to Richmond, Virginia for work while my wife went to Ghana in Africa where she served in the Peace Corps. After Ghana, my wife joined me in Richmond, Virginia where we lived for 6 years. A job opportunity took us to Los Angeles, California in 2018. We loved living there in Pasadena, but it was far from family back in Ohio. My wife was accepted into a masters program at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, so we decided to move BACK across the US and have settled here (for now). We miss the sunshine of LA, but enjoy the warmth and being closer to family and friends.

What’s your favorite way to spend a day off?

Working on a project or preparing for a trip. The getting ready to go on a trip, prepping, packing, and anticipation is half the fun. Or tackling a project at home. Maybe it's working on a piece of furniture, or fixing something around the house. I just like how productive you can be in a day and am always amazed at how much I can get done!

What was the last thing you enjoyed watching? Do you recommend it?

We watched Rings of Power on Prime because we are HUGE Lord of the Rings fans (Our home wifi network is named "Gondor Calls for Wifi"). We really enjoyed it and appreciate the additional depth and backstory it gives. Plus it's easier than reading the Simarillion (trust me, I tried).

What are your hobbies, and how did you get into them?

My main hobby might be... having hobbies. I REALLY like learning new things and getting as much knowledge as I can. No matter what is is, I abide by the motto, "If it's worth doing, it's worth over-doing".
🪵 I have been a woodworker since I was kid, working on furniture projects, random jobs around the house, or other things. I recently completed a table for our living room and have a murphy bed next on the list.
🎣 I grew up fishing and always wanted to learn how to fly fish. So about 5 years ago I decided I would learn and have really enjoyed it. I try and get out as much as I can.
🧗‍♂️ My wife and I did a rock climbing trip outdoors to try it and I was hooked. I don't climb as much anymore, but when we lived in Virginia we would drive and go climbing in the New River Gorge in West Virginia almost every weekend.
🤿 I learned how to scuba dive in 2022 since it was a popular thing in North Carolina and have gotten to dive a few shipwrecks off the coast of NC.
🎸 And music. I love playing instruments (guitar, bass, piano, drums), singing, and just being engrossed in music and have been for quite a while. I was in a terrible band in high school, and another not-so-terrible band in Los Angeles. Now I just like playing guitar to calm my mind or as a break between tasks.

If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?
