Backend Engineer

Where were you born and where did you grow up? Where do you live now?

I was born and grew up in Jinan, Shandong. Jinan is a beautiful city famous for its spring water. I lived in Beijing for a decade but have now moved back to Jinan.

Did you attend university, and if so, what did you study?

I attended the University of International Business and Economics, where I studied international business and trade. Although I loved my school, I wasn't a fan of economics. After years of struggling with my career path, I took some MOOC computer science classes from Rice University and eventually became a developer.

What was your first job? What do you remember most about that job?

My first job was as an international business person. Although I wasn't particularly good at it, I have to admit the job had its perks. One of the highlights was the opportunity to travel to many places, such as Iran and Afghanistan, which provided really interesting experiences.

What are your hobbies, and how did you get into them?

I love camping and am really good at barbeque. Haha.

What phone app do you use most?

I probably use Duolingo the most. This little green bird has been pushing me to learn new things for almost three years now.
